Glass -- New York, Friday Night

They'd given them a park facing room, which was more than Devin had hoped for. He brushed his fingers over the cool glass of the doors, then stepped outside on the balcony, letting the sounds of the city wash over him. He took a sip of whiskey, smiling to himself as he watched the warm early evening light warm the buildings and the tops of the trees. It was warm and the air conditioner in the room kicked on in protest of the open door, but he just let it run, listening to the sounds of Warren in the room behind him.

Even now, the heat from their little game still lingered, flushing his cheeks. The whiskey in the glass was cool, but not cool enough. He was cursing himself that they only had one bed, but when he'd booked the gig, and the room, he hadn't expected Warren to be coming. He figured he'd be pursuing his other gig while here, but then the invitation spilled out and here they were. He wasn't coming down off a high. He'd slept a lot the last few days. He'd been eating. He wasn't fragile and out of it, and sharing that bed was likely to test his resolve to the limit, especially after the teasing.

He wasn't likely to sleep much.

But he didn't want to push Warren. The flirtation was delightful. The game moreso, but he was the one who wanted it to be more than just a game, not Warren. He had to remember that part and not push, no matter if that "later" teased at his memory. He slid fingers over glass and imagined briefly it was skin, then pushed those thoughts away. He could behave.

"Our reservation's at six." He called back over his shoulder, straightening even as he kept his gaze fixed on the people scurrying below, drinking in the life of the City. "We should probably leave by 530. It's just around the corner, less than half a mile. Walk or cab?"

Devin laughed. "I suppose I should be grateful for that."

"Oh?" Warren was curious to know what that meant. Somewhat for personal reasons.

"Well I'd hate to lose my companion for the weekend because he was busy servicing New York," Devin said with a rakish grin.

Warren choked, sputtered, and turned bright red.

Devin grinned and kissed his cheek.

"Now who wins?"

"You do," he said obediently, smiling back.

"Besides, it'd only be half of New York. You know I'm straight."

Though anyone else who saw the way his fingers pressed a little into Devin's side would find that hard to believe.

"Ah, yes," Devin said mournfully, with an exaggerated pout. "So you keep reminding me."

"Uh-huh." Smirking. "The boys of New York will just have to get along without this fine ass."

Which he posed, and smacked in a particularly dramatic and flaming manner.

Devin tilted his head and studied the ass in question critically.

"I'm not sure the boys will survive the loss."

It wasn't the falling over in hysterical giggles that he'd quite wanted, but it'd do.

"Hey!" Warren scooted out of Devin's grasp, turned, wagged a finger at him. "No free shows!"

"Oh, now that's really not fair," Devin complained, pouting more.

Warren lifted a little onto his toes, almost bouncing. "No pay, no play..."

Devin snagged his belt buckle tugging him back against him, grinning. "What's the price?" He asked huskily, teasing, in his ear.

Warren was startled, but not too startled. He'd started it, after all.

He did have to grab at Devin's shoulder and arm to steady himself. That was all right. He leaned in till his nose was almost touching Devin's.

"That depends on what kind of contract you're interested in."

Devin smiled slowly, seductively. "I'm thinking that I'm interested in something long term..."

Warren's eyes widened slightly. Not that he hadn't guessed, but it was one thing to guess and another to talk about it out loud like this.

As obliquely as they were. He was used to talking on the slant.

His answering smile was a little shy, a little wry. His eyes didn't leave Devin's face. "I'll keep that in mind," he said, more quietly. He smiled a little, hoping to tease. "You'd better know, though, there's a waiting list."

Devin smiled, leaning in, lips close to his ear.

His voice was a touch husky still, soft, just for Warren. "I can wait."

He stepped back and snagged Warren's hand, starting down the street again. "But for now if you don't move that very fine ass of yours we're not going to be able to get a drink before the show starts."

Warren's eyes widened when Devin moved in close. He was far too aware of Devin's breath over his cheek, over his ear, Devin's voice, Devin's body so close.

He followed out of reflex, moving quick and not even stumbling, but his mind stumbled, trying to catch up.

"Hmmph," he said, still trying to sort out what had just happened.

Devin smiled back at him, warm and open. "It's just about another block."

Warren nodded, following. Smiling a little back, regaining his equilibrium.

Devin was more than a little shaken himself, not used to being that open when playing. He was quiet the rest of the way, though his fingers held on to Warren's.

He sauntered up to will call when they got to the theatre and picked up their tickets with a smile.

Warren chuckled a little, watching him prance and perform, even as much less as he was doing it now, compared to a few minutes ago. Devin was so... Devin.

As they went in he started humming the 'Knights of the Round table' song. Just because.

It was a good evening.

Devin grinned, echoing the feeling and headed to the bar first.

"Wine? Beer?"

"Wine," Warren smiled shyly. "But you pick. I haven't had wine on a regular basis since..."

He shook his head a little.

"Since I was a kid, anyway. I'm out of practice."

"I'll be right back, then." He brushed a kiss over Warren's cheek. "Just in case they're checking I.D."

He extricated his hand with regret, moving to the bartender.
